Sometimes my people stage fights. It's amusing, since Nietzsche spoke out so vehemently against tribalism, but it's our way of celebrating competition. The combatants circle each other in the ring and fight, while the other contenders not currently participating drum.

But the drumming serves a purpose. While two are competing, the others cooperate and keep time. And as they keep time, they can see the timing of their future opponents moves. We don't have songs, we have drums. You don't kill your opponent. You're from the same Pride, the same genes, the same blood. They're a part of you. You want to gain strength from your competition with one another to face the enemies of your Pride.

I realized earlier, I miss drumming. [And he misses the fight, too.]

Mariska, it seems that the Admiral has seen fit to find a more suitable pairing for both of us. I would prefer if you found a warden that could supply your needs in the interim. [Also to keep an eye on you because you are kind of a scary lady.]

If I'm needed, I'll be on the deck for a little while.

This is two inmates I've lost. This one I admit will likely be better served by someone else. [He's kind of terrified by her, and even though he's been logical, Dylan's seen what that can lead to.] The other was more complicated but-

It's just been a while since he had a chance to look at the stars, so he was up on deck himself, alternating between checking out the night sky and scrolling through the recent posts when Rhade's came through.
