Performance is a good way to live one's life, especially when it takes death-defying skill. But to achieve death defying skill, safeties have to be in place.

I'm sure when your father is practicing or learning a new trick in a new place, he makes sure it's safe first, correct? Until he's mastered it?

[Clint wavers.] ...yeah, but I'm just as good and after he's done he teaches it to me.

I've done this before, I can TOTALLY do it.

You should still wait for your father to be around, so that he can be proud of you.

But what else can you do? [He remembers Cissie.] You know there is a place where you can perform some tricks that has some mats.

[Wary eyes] Dad's only proud if there's an audience.

[It takes him a while to find Clint's room, it's after this when he does, and sorry, Clint. He's going to force his way in to get to him.]

[Clint is on the ground with his arm in his hands staring straight ahead and trying...very manfully not to sob.

He's managing to succeed somewhat. Eyes closed, he's sniffing and completely wrapped in a world of his own pain.]

[He stoops down beside of him and helps sit him up. He doesn't want to move him like this, not far, anyway. So he pulls out his communicator.]

I'm going to contact someone and she's going to transport you to the infirmary. [He quickly sends off a message to Arkady as he helps brace Clint's arm with his free hand.]

Someone's hurt? Ooo, that's sad. I'll be down.

[There's a bit of a feathering feeling over both man and boy's minds. She hadn't asked where they were, but she comes padding down the stairs anyway--all four feet of her, pigtailed and carrying a bowl half full of cookies.]

Uhoh! That's no good at all! Yes, we'd best get him to a doctor. Or Miki if we can find her. I sent a Mass Call but nobody answered.

Um...how can I help?

[Clint's not crying, STILL.]

[It seems that Arkady is tiny, and probably can't teleport. Not exactly a vast improvement to the situation. He looks over at her.] You're right, he does need a doctor. Can you call one for me while I hold his arm? There should be an infirmary filter.

[And he turns his attention to Clint.] No, Clint, they're not clapping. They don't clap if you don't make it, and you have to learn to make it safely before you show off. [Then he huffs a breath. He realizes it's a pointless lecture. He'll be back to himself in a couple of days- he's just used to his own children.] Tell me about your father.

Oh I know what you need! You need the...the...the floaty thing! [Her memories are very vague, so the stretcher enchanted with the levitation spell is now The Floaty Thing.] I'll call them while I fetch it!

[Off she bounds, very quick, not at all like Arkady's normal dreamy wanderings. She's chattering into her communicator as she goes.] There's a cute Yank with sticky-up hair with his arm broken, Doctors, we'll be needing help...

My dad's Trick Shot. He's the greatest archer who ever lived and he's best with a gun and a bow. My brother and me travel 'round with him when we're not in school and our horse Stan Lee and usually I ride him...

[There's a tear in his eye] So can I make noise then cause my dad got hurt once...he pulled a muscle in his hand and he still finished the act without goin' to the medic.
